Whether you’re adding it to a Bloody Mary or just eating it by itself, Candied Bacon is SO delicious and easy to make! In fact, you probably have all of the ingredients for it already.
Ingredients
- Thick-cut bacon (as many slices as you’d like)
- Brown sugar (about 1–2 cups, depending on quantity)
- Red pepper flakes
- Your favorite honey
- Nonstick spray (like Pam)
- Aluminum foil
- Metal baking rack
- Parchment paper, butcher paper, or foil for cooling
Instructions
- Prep the Pan
- Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and place a metal baking rack on top
- Spray the rack with nonstick spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup a breeze
- Coat the Bacon
- Pour brown sugar into a bowl or casserole dish
- Dredge each slice of bacon in the sugar until fully coated, then lay them side by side on the baking rack
- Add Heat
- Sprinkle red pepper flakes over the top of the bacon. Don’t worry, it won’t be too spicy! The sweetness of the brown sugar and honey balances the heat beautifully.
- Bake
- Place the bacon in a preheated oven at 350°F and bake for 35-45 minutes
- At the 20-minute mark, rotate the pan for even cooking
- Add the Finishing Touch
- With 10 minutes left, drizzle each slice of bacon with honey and return to the oven to finish baking
- Cool
- Once done, transfer the bacon to a sheet of parchment paper, butcher paper, or foil in a single layer. Avoid stacking, candied bacon will stick together while it cools!
- Allow the bacon to cool for 15-20 minutes before serving
