This is one delicious crowd pleaser: Chocolate Bacon Crack! It’s super easy to do, and is just one of the great things you can make from our previous candied bacon recipe!
Ingredients
For the Sauce:
- 24 unsalted saltine crackers (standard sleeve)
- 12 Tbsp butter
- 1 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 8 oz semisweet chocolate chips
- 8 slices of Candied Bacon, crumbled
- Flaky sea salt for taste
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep
- Preheat oven to 350° F (175° C)
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil
- Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer until they’ve filled the baking sheet and they’re touching, but not overlapping.
- Prepare Your Cracker Crust
- In a small saucepan, melt 12 Tbsp of butter over medium heat
- Once the butter is melted add in 1.5 cups of light brown sugar and stir to combine. Let it come back up to a simmer.
- Pour your sugar and butter mixture over your crackers in a criss cross motion. You don’t need to spread the mixture over the crackers afterwards as it will spread out in the oven as it cooks.
- Cook at 350° for 11-15 minutes until the sugar is spread out and the sugar is golden brown and crispy.
- Add Your Toppings
- Remove from the oven
- Add 16 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips over the top of your crackers.
- Let sit for 3 minutes for the chocolate chips to soften.
- Take a spatula and spread the now melty chocolate chips over the top.
- Take your candied bacon and spread it over the top of the chocolate. It’s roughly 16 pieces of candied bacon.
- Sprinkle a light coating of coarse ground sea salt over the top. The goal is to get a bit of sea salt in every bite.
- Take your baking sheet and place it in the oven for about 30 minutes.
- Chill & Serve
- Let the sheet cool completely at room temperature
- Then transfer to the fridge for about 30 minutes to set
- Take your cooled chocolate bacon crack and lift it from the parchment paper. Proceed to break it into small, bite sized pieces and serve.
Warning! This sweet and savory treat is as addictive as it is delicious, so eat with caution, and enjoy!
